Gardener’s Own™ brand: Growing healthy, strong plants has been an integral part of what Mike Weber Greenhouses Inc.'s mission. Gardener's Own was created so that the consumer could place a name with the quality plants that they have been enjoying for more than 20 years. Since a large part of our business is done on the wholesale end, we felt the need to develop a brand that could be placed in any number of locations, yet, not take away from a particular establishments feel or look.
Gardener's Own potted herbs have been sold through Wegmans grocery stores as well as independent garden centers for more than 15 years. Over the years our herbs have gone through a few packaging changes, continually trying to better the appearance. What once started out being sewn in flats of
1801's are now sewn and planted in 18 count trays of bio-degradable 65mm. Ellepots.

Herbs: We have a full line of 91 herbs with most of them being available year-round. These include Sweet Italian Basil as the most popular, followed by Rosemary and Parsleys. There are a wide range of culinary herbs as well as aromatics like Lavender, Bee Balm, Germainder and Thyme. They are planted in our 3.5” Gardener’s Own™ pots, and are also available for individual sale in our retail store. Potted herbs provide the freshest plants for culinary use. Just set them on your windowsill in the kitchen and cut off what ever you need.

Begonia Liners: We start our Begonias from seed. They are available to wholesalers as liners, pre-finished and finished plants. The liners are planted in 84 count plug trays. Varieties grown are; Non-Stops, Non-Stop Ornament, Charisma, Panorama, Pin-Up, Fortune and Illumination. We also root and grow Rieger Begonias as well. These are available in 50 cell trays as liners and as pre-finished and finished pot crops and hangers.
Vegetables(65mm Ellepot): Heirloom varieties have become popular and an extensive variety of tomatoes are now being grown. Currently, we are growing 13 vegetable types with 41 varieties available. All 65mm ellepot vegetables are singles. Availability is April through June. All products are grown from seed.
Accent Liners: These are specialty annuals. Our list of available plants has more than doubled this year to over 500 varieties! This is due to our partnership with Richard D. Smith Co. We are a rooting station for them. A majority of the plants listed are from Grolink Specialties. This has greatly increased our ability to bring new and unique plants to our customers. We also finish a great deal of these plants for our own retail store.

Perennials: Mike Weber Greenhouses, Inc. has become the premier grower for perennials in Western New York. Our product list now includes more than 460 different perennial plants. The majority of these are started from seed late in the summer and early fall. They are then transplanted into our Gardener’s Own™ 3.5” pots. This takes place in November. Through the process of vernalization, we are able to provide our customers with a perennial that blooms the very first year. Our perennials can be placed outside for sale when the night-time temperatures moderate to 34˚F or above. The plants will withstand a frost. Availability starts in March for wholesalers.
Gardener’s Own™ Winter Pansy: The Weber family has been growing pansies for generations. No one else can offer the quality of plants or the expertise to the market. Pansies are naturally biennial. This means that they have a two year life cycle. Pansies love cool weather. They thrive in it. The challenge for most growers has been how to properly start the pansy seed and manage the tender seedlings in the heat of late summer. Through our long experience, we have learned how to treat the young pansies and grow them on until the weather cools. By starting them this way, the pansy goes through its natural life cycle. The plants have beautiful flowers in the fall and early winter, but because the freezing temperatures of winter come before the pansy has had a chance to reproduce, the pansy is still alive in the spring and is in bloom before some of the early spring bulbs. Gardener’s Own™ Winter Pansies are available for sale in mid to late August. They can be planted in the ground up to the first major snowfall. They are available in a wide range of sizes from our 4.3” pots to 10” bowls, 14” bowls, 16” oval planters, 12” planters, window boxes and 8 qt. handle baskets.

Ellepots: Ellepots are among the leading technologies available to growers for use in rooting cuttings. First developed in Europe, they have made their way to North America. Ellepots offer superior rooting and faster transplanting capabilities to any grower who uses them. A thin bio-degrading paper wraps around the plug of soil mix. There are no chemicals involved. This paper plug allows air to reach the sides of the plug. This promotes better root growth and faster rooting plants since the plug is no longer sitting in water as well. Typical results are ˝ to1 week faster rooting of crops. Trays root more uniformly, reducing pop-over for shipping. We offer two tray sizes pre-filled with Ellepots. Sizes available are: 2 x 51 tray (102 count) w/ 25mm. Ellepots, and a larger 50 count tray w/ 40mm. Ellepots. They are shipped ready to use, just wet them down and stick your cuttings.
65 mm. Ellepots are the new "GREEN" solution to your landscaping needs. These are grown with no plastic pot to throw away. All you need to do is dig the hole and put the plant in! No empty plastic pots to blow around the yard or send to the landfill. Starting in Spring 2009, our Gardener's Own herb line will be grown with these. These may be purchased filled with potting soil in trays of 18 for your own plantings.
